It's over 25 years since Baby Ford decamped to the studio with, alternately, Mark Broom and the late Ian 'Eon' Loveday to re-examine the depths and possibilities of collaborative underground techno. The result, as we now know, was a giant step forward into a new sound, with a new label, Ifach, that would go on to define the blueprint for a more minimal sound it would take others a decade emulate. Monolense, four bittersweet, emotional, stripped bare explorations of techno has long been sought-after, commanding high prices on the secondhand market, and is finally getting a re-release. This is not just a moment in time, but a bookmark in UK techno history.

Yo Speed released their debut in digital format on the Distorsion Records in 2016. Since then their sound has gradually evolved, as their productions have served to mark a turning point in today's Breakbeat sound, making them a leading name throughout the genre on the international stage. As you would expect, their first solo vinyl release comes courtesy of the label where they first started out.On this first disc, DIST001 in the new Distorsion Records physical catalogue, entitled 'Free Ur Mind', Yo Speed offer us a collection of three tracks with a clearly defined approach. Penetrating subwoofers create an enveloping cushion of rhythms laden with swing and groove, twisted but elegant base sounds that will have you dancing from the very first beat. Ambient and vocal sound effects which end up holding you captive, subconsciously inviting reflection. A clear message, sonic purity free of superfluous flourishes, to release the mind on the dancefloor... Liege-based Gravitational Effect heralds in Reposition's 3rd release with a dazzling electro EP.The 4-tracker pays tribute to electro's intergalactic appeal, whilst simultaneously espousing a fresh take on euphoric and mind-bending dancefloor music.Across the 3 original tracks, ever-evolving synth patterns and playful melodies meet cosmic tones and finely-programmed drum patterns.For such a release, Radioactive Man fit the bill perfectly to jump on remix duties, especially considering how much the legendary producer has inspired GE's musical outlook. His take on Base Control (the most hard-hitting original on the EP) experiments cleverly with the central synth pattern, pitching this down alongside more spaced-out production throughout, to create a 7-min masterpiece of psychedelic and engaging electro.

Pyramid Of Knowledge fires up the jets again for the Seoul-based producer's second interstellar adventure on Dream Ticket. Almost 30 years on from the precise, angular breaks and acid of UR's Electronic Warfare and the components of those potent battle weapons remain in full service, here honed by POK's controlled studio hand and ready to dash full-pelt against the enemy.
