Bizarro Records returns to its Australian roots for three functional tracks from Eora/Sydney local Eastern Distributor, alongside a remix from Montreal prodigy Maara. Drawing heavily from the psychedelic influences of our country’s bush doof scene, ‘State of Equilibrium’ alludes to trance and techno relics of the past whilst accelerating into a hybrid psy-tek sound. ‘Affinity’ delivers a functional, peak-time psychedelic motion, ebbing and flowing into dark resonant euphoria. ‘Balance’ sticks closer to the modern Australian scene; an upbeat, bubbling tech-house influenced track, presenting a futuristic psy take on a sound marking contemporary dance floors. The third track ‘Endorphin’ is a bouncing techno tool, infinitely ascending from powerful low-frequency buzz to progged-out elation. The EP comes to a close with a taste of Maara’s signature sound - characterizing her take on ‘Endorphin’ with an irresistible dancefloor oriented bassline, filled with the angelic pads that define her discography.
Ahem is a new project from Housecraft Recordings head Jeffry Astin (aka Xiphiidae, Digital Natives) along with co-conspirators J.P. Wright and Brian Kinkade. Recommended for fans of smoked out dub-bient and deep Appalachian drones.
This gem from 1998 is produced by Jean Frank Cochois aka Jeremy. A set of atmospheres: deep, tech, chill, which will make you travel through time. "Spiritual Reality" is considered a timeless classic in the deep-house scene.
A rhythm created during a common dream, a journey repeated by the rolling of the snare drums, voices bewitched by a humid path, its synthesizers are the only cause of this crystalline mist. It's time to open your eyes, this first side is full of movements ready to hypnotize and energize a dancefloor waiting for these sonic gems.
Madrid, Malmø, Motor City – the places that influenced the sound behind the pure Electro EP, „M-Technology“. The fifth SNC Recs release fuses elements from very different cities from all around the world. The musician Dip Shim aka. Diego Ocejo unites on „M-Technology“ the Sounds of Detroit, his roots in Spain, and the current scene of Sweden. Dip Shim has many talents; in his formative years, he was active in the Graffiti scene and working as a graphic designer. Turning his lifestyle into education, he moved to Malmø, getting lost within the city’s artistic bubble. It was within this creative environment, that Dip Shim found a place to start a new project. Since 2020 he runs the record store called „Bolero Record-Store“ and started his own label „Malmø Traxx“. One thing is for sure – he knows what he’s doing. By the way, Dip Shims' first release on his own imprint was a top seller on Juno and sold out after only two weeks.„M-Technology“ is for sure the perfect soundtrack for your favorite Graffiti Film or a rave night that will hopefully take place soonish. With his full analogue producing style, using legendary equipment like the MPC2000 and a selection of classic Roland drum machines, Diego created an outstanding 4 track, full Electro EP which will probably heat up a lot of Dancefloors in the near future.
Presence Unknown is a vinyl and digital label curated by longtime producer and DJ, Neil Keating aka Controlled Weirdness. Neil has been behind the decks and deeply involved in all aspects of club and underground sound system culture since the early Eighties. He has released his music on numerous underground labels and performed all over the world, from plush clubs to dirty warehouses. Worth a read are a couple of published articles by Neil regarding his experiences on the dance floor of underground clubs in London and New York in the Eighties. See links at the bottom of this page for these as well as a detailed biography and discography. There is also a link to a recent 40-minute interview with Distant Planet TV that explores his cultured rave history. The third release on Presence Unknown contains four slamming tunes, crafted with precision by Controlled Weirdness using a variety of analogue and digital machines in his South London studio. The A-side features some deep and bass heavy electro acid for the dance floor. "Ghosts of the Heygate" and "Running on Empty" feature rolling 808 boom with 303 groove. The flip side starts off with "Are you angry or are you boring?" a future-retro rave anthem with lately bass and killer mentasm stabs and has been destroying dance floors on dub during Controlled Weirdness’ DJ sets the past six months. The EP closes with, "Strange Desires", a slow, sleazy, slinky and salacious groove. Music from the margins. Presence Unknown.
