Pedro Elías Corro is a producer and DJ from Venezuela, who grew up in the neighborhood of Catia, in Caracas during the 90's. Having grown up in the world of minitecas (mobile sound systems), Pedro Elias was able to develop his ear, as well as his DJ skills, from an early age. Particularly, by frequenting music gear and record shops in Catia such as 'Audio Jbl' and 'Djs Shop', which were the hotspots for all the miniteca dj's who were after the latest imports in dance music.

By digging through the crates of these shops, Pedro Elias found inspiration in records from labels such as Italian Style Production, UR, Dance Street Technoland and ZYX. These influences, along with Afro-Venezuelan drumming and Caribbean Dance music, inspired Baba to create a new form of dance music which would be later known as Raptor House.

As the technology for music-making became more affordable in mid 90s, the Miniteca scene gave birth to a string of new producers in Venezuela. Names such as El Mago, Dr Sampler, DJ Lemad, DJ Deep, DJ Yet (later known as DJ Yirvin) and DJ Baba. This new Venezuelan-flavored form of club music would become initially known as Street House, but as each producer developed their own style, new names for their sounds appeared; such as Town House, Hard Fusion and Raptor House, for which DJ Baba is the progenitor.

The tracks on this EP are a compilation of music that Baba produced between 2001- 2005, at the peak of the 'Raptor House' scene. Included are collaborations with DJ Lemad ['Mario Vol 3' and 'Aget Love'] and a remix of 'Teque Teque Alright' by Nick Léon.

Quoth is the brainchild of Alex Egan (Utter) and Mike Smaczylo (Half Edge). Singular in focus, this newly minted (sub)label harnesses the pair’s diverse and expansive tastes in weird and hallucinatory sonics, aimed squarely at the dancefloor. We're very proud to present ‘Barney’s Maze’, a four-track EP of twisted techno, drawing influence from IDM, bass, and older strains of textural music.

UPROOTED, the sound of here and there.Uprooted is a project curated by Vidal Benjamin. The concept behind the project comes from hisown personal experience of being uprooted. Under the wing of Versatile Records, he has decided to launch a collection of double-sided limited edition, vinyl only, celebrating the dualityof people who take their roots from a place and embrace another culture. The idea is to ask an appreciated music activist with a double cultural pedigree to choose two tracks. One track that incarnates the place where he or she comes from (the sound of there, side A) and anotherNo digital for this série.Vinyl only.#1-Vladimir IvkovicFrom Belgrade to Düsseldorf, uprooted or not, I compiled 2 tracks from my 2 cities.Tracks that were always meant to be released on one 7“.On the Belgrade side there are Rex, Vejvoda, Milan. Rex Ilusivii, Goran Vejvoda and Milan Mladenović.Summer of 1984, a short nighttime session on an improvised 4 track 1/4¨ tape studio setup in Goran’s parents small living room in Belgrade, Yugoslavia. Three young men getting away from their dry intellectual framework at the tail end of the influence of „My Life in the Bush of Ghosts“. Maybe. Maybe not. A recording that should not exist, from the city that does not exist, from the country that could have shown the world how a melting pot can blend and stick together, no matter how countless obstacles lay ahead. On the Düsseldorf side there is CHBB. Chrislo Haas and Beate Bartel. One track from the first of their four tapes, recorded and self-released in Düsseldorf in 1981.
