Following on from stellar releases AD93 and Something Happening Somewhere, Amsterdam based producer Bas Dobbelaer brings a four track EP to Trule of deep, psychedelic, dubwise techno. From the bass and bleeps of HSS-01 to the Berlin-esque dub of Layers of Territory, Bas demonstrates his high production abilities and deft but sparse rhythm programming, propelled by heavyweight subs for the soundsystem.
You could say, ahem, that Infiltrate has infiltrated deep into our conscious with its fine run of releases as we are well and truly locked in to the output each and every time. As far as we can tell, both of these artists are new names who are making their first releases here - or they are at least appearing on Juno for the first time. But the music is so impressive we find it hard to believe this is their debut. Cyphon kicks off with the tight, twitchy electro workout that is 'Hegemony' which Gene Harvest mixes into something more full fat and celestial. Konertymi's 'Valtameri' is a rich, colourful world of freeform melodic arps and arching heavenly chords while Astraali Suunnittelu could be a Kraftwerk does modern electro tune.
Some 20 years on from its initial release, it's amazing how fresh and current 'Praise' by Leigh Dickson sounds, every bit as reinvigorating as a swim in an icy mountain stream. Sushitech imprint Pariter have opted to remaster the lush original mix in its full glory, adding the already well known and much loved Baby Ford Heavenly Circuit remix alongside a new, unreleased 'alternative remix' and new mixes by Pariter's own Ogerman and Derek Carr. All four sides are eminently playable in the deep house/techno framework, as you'd imagine, with varying levels of the original's bewitching instrumentation retained.
For its first chapter, Monument Records is inviting Atomic Moog to take us around The Hesperian City. With this EP, the French duo offers a polarized urban exploration that balances between cold, ethereal street vibes and hearty, powerful basement rhythms, with alternative paths provided by renowned figures Anthony Linell and Artefakt.Hitting the pavement with a truly luminous and smooth deep-techno ride with "Chasing Blue", the record then takes the listener high with Anthony Linell's ambient chemistry and his extended "Alkaloid Mix". On the flip side, we dive underground with "Static Flow" to discover a solid, dancefloor-oriented techno hymn, before getting back to the light with Artefakt's absolutely gorgeous "Electric Therapy Version".
