M.E.R. proudly presents a new series of V/A releases which will be seeing the light along the year. MER006 is the result of two collaborative works between the label's artists roster with a special guest on the flip-side: Fernando Zapico aka Z@P. On side A Santiago Uribe and Juan Dairecshion deliver two tracks with a gloomy atmosphere coming from post-punk/darkwave sound influences. For B side Cabanelas and Z@P crafted two stomper tracks: heavy basslines, soulful drum plates and dark-mood synth sounds.
Constant Black is one of the numerous labels in UK artist Burnski's orbit. He's been a man on form on all fronts in recent years and here he snaps up Retrospect for a trio of super slick and funky minimal house cuts. 'Ay-up!' is a cheeky opener with subtle northern welcomes hidden in the mix as the lithe bass and 2-step tinged drums do their thang. It's reet good. 'Schneebly' gets more pacey and balmy, with silky and oily bass and kinetic drum work all underpinned by a sick bass tone. Last of all comes '4 U' which has something of an upright garage skip and downright irresistible groove. These are high functioning, charismatic cuts to pump up any floor.
Crisp, freshly distorted & pulsating techno trips; Nous'klaer proudly presents Mary Lake's debut EP Askim. The rising dj/producer from Amsterdam steps up with three brilliant uptempo techno rollers and a blissful ambient excursion as epilogue. Four tracks that perfectly reflect her infectious enthusiasm and energy. On top of that, there is much more to come from Mary this year, both on Nous'klaer and elsewhere. Pub is back with a 2020 remaster of the classic 'Summer' and a brand new track titled 'Fragile Root'Summer was originally released in 2000 on the Vertical Form label and has been out of print ever since. It even made it into Fact Mag's Top 20 Dub Techno tracks of all time
The Spinning Plates imprint returns this October with Club Winston’s ‘Guzzle’ EP, comprised of four gritty club workouts from the London artist. The UK’s Club Winston has been steadily unveiling a series of tripped-out club ready cuts via his own UKGEORGE label over the past few years along with remixes from the likes of D.Tiffany and Tim Reaper. Here though we see him join the roster of Spinning Plates with his latest collection of works, an imprint that’s played host to material from the likes of SHKN, Neksha, Andy Rantzen, DJ Spider and Bruno Schmidt since its inception in 2015.Title-track ‘Guzzle’ leads, laid out across five minutes with a menacing arpeggio bass lead, howling atmospherics and crunchy analogue drums. ‘Hell’ follows and tips the focus over to heavy doses of sub bass, intricately dynamic, modulating drums and intense swells of processed synths throughout.Opening the flip-side is ‘Chart’, upping the energy levels with a pacey 4/4 drum groove while twitchy resonant synth lines, low-end pulsations and cavernous reverberations ebb and flow throughout. ‘Partook’ then rounds out the release, a cinematic ambient composition which lays focus on swirling, textural pads, glitched out resonant bleeps and fluttering low end hits.
As a full moon hovers over an empire of cratered landscapes lightyears away, galaxy explorer HVL signals descend to Earth with electronic cuts orbiting around turbulent electro and translunar techno. Four more stories from the great void.
